After a week of solid rain, the clouds parted and the sun came out in time for the Howard County Cup Races.  The day attracted full fields and happy tailgaters, who got the treat of viewing the Kentucky Derby on the big screen after the last Howard County Cup Race.  Owner/Trainer Mike Leaf took home the silver in the Howard County Hunt Cup Open Timber Race with his entry Black Pond, piloted by James Slater.  Other winners on the day included Golden Slammer in the Novice Timber, Aaron’s Pick in the Foxhunter, and Kodiak in the Founders Cup races.

Three pony field master chase races were also run on the day with Bailey (Eisenberg) outdueling Jordan (Herzog) in the stretch of the large division, Splash (Leatherman) out-footing Kiss My Sass (Murphy), Bailey (Smith) besting Hickory (Davies) in the small divisions.
