While amateur jockey Lia McGuirk was busy claiming her first double, winning the Lady Rider Timber and the first division of the Maiden Training Flat races, champion jockey Jody Petty rode his final race aboard Dr. Skip for friend and trainer Eddie Graham.  Petty is most recently noted for winning the the 2014 Maryland Hunt Cup aboard Guts for Garters and also as the regular pilot for the Eclipse Award winning McDynamo.  Petty has ridden 1,281 races with a win rate of 17.8% (230 wins) in sanctioned and non-sanctioned races.  The second race he rode was an MSA series race (Potomac Hunt Races), so it’s fitting that his last race also be in the MSA series.
