The Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs and the Cattail Chase Races are the only two race meets run in Maryland in autumn. The Legacy Chase is sanctioned by the National Steeplechase Association and kicks off the fall season, while the Cattail Chase Races are the lone point-to-point of the season, giving timber horses an extra opportunity to run and junior riders the chance to ride as well.
Points earned by participants at these two race meets start the tally for the 2025 Maryland Governor’s Cup Series.
