Maryland fall steeplechasing is off and running!
We are so thrilled to have racing back at Fair Hill – even if it is just flat racing for now. It is a start! We look forward to welcoming them back into the Governor’s Cup Series. Click here watch replays of the Fair Hill fall races; click here for Fair Hill results.
Meanwhile, kicking off the NEW Maryland Governor’s Cup Series was yesterday’s sanctioned $160,000 Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs, with sixty horses starting in a card of six races. Of course, the Governor’s Cup pays special attention to timber winners, and it was Mrs. John R.S. Fisher’s Keys Discount taking the open timber stakes by 4 1/4 lengths over Mr. William M Russell’s Animal Kingdom, and for the maiden timber, it was Mr Michael Smith’s The Hero Next Door over Mr. James Foulk’s Sorolla by a whopping 20 3/4 lengths. Next up for the Governor’s Cup will be the unsanctioned $15,000 Cattail Chase Races – click here for more information and conditions.
