As the COVID-19 pandemic seeps into every aspect of our lives, it comes as no surprise that the 2020 Maryland Steeplechase Governor’s Cup Series is just a part of the collateral damage of this scourge. Regretfully, the series and awards reception are cancelled for 2020.
Although minor in the grand scheme of this world crisis, the cancellation of all the spring meets nevertheless has a profound impact on the every day lives of those in our community, from trainers, jockeys, exercise riders, veterinarians, farriers, barn workers, and countless others who work in this sport of steeplechasing to the organizations that host these races, the proceeds from which help to support the hounds and the hunts clubs, the sport of foxchasing.
