On April 12, pony racing descended on Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore for the annual Chasin’ For Children Pony Flat Races.
The Lead Line Trot race was split into two divisions. Finishing in a close second was Este Stifel aboard Rosie and Thomas Webster riding Bobo. Darcy Buck won the second lead line division, The Holwood Farm Hustle. She rode Good To Go Farm’s Rip Dash for trainer Brenda Herzog.
The Speedy Kiniel Memorial Small Pony Flat race was won by Charlie Mourier aboard Mint Meadows Farm’s Emmy-Lou. Mourier and Emmy-Lou are trained by Suxanne Stettinius.
Phineas Westerlund rode his own Sail the Sun to win the Half Pint Hustle Shetland Pony Flat race. They are trained by Regina Welsh.
The D. M. Mikey Smithwick Memorial Medium Pony Flat race was won by Ellie Nickel riding EHM Stables’ Count Chocula for trainer Elizabeth McCue.
The last race of the day, the MR. V Special Large Pony Flat race, went to Elizabeth Norris riding Ace of Spades. The gelding is owned by Debbie Oxnard and trained by Betty McCue.
Don’t forget! There are TWO days of steeplechase racing this weekend! The Grand National Steeplechase on Saturday and the Fair Hill Point to Point on Sunday. Hope to see you there!
