Finally, a proper spring day! The Elkridge-Harford Pt to Pt featured perfect spring racing weather and drew a good crowd of spectators. The feature race ran first on the card, the Edward S Voss Memorial Open Timber. The winner of the race was none other than the 2016 Maryland Hunt Cup victor, Senior Senator, with regular jockey, Eric Poretz, in the irons for trainer Joe Davies and owner Irvin L. Crawford, II. The bay son of Domestic Dispute out footed De Chera by one length to take the first contest of the day. There were a total of eight runners.
Other winners over jumps on the day include Daddy in the Dark in the George C. Clement Memorial Novice Timber, Mystic Strike in the Ann L. McIntosh Memorial Heavyweight Timber, and Schoolhouse Woods in the Babe Saportas Amateur Apprentice Timber. Professional jockey Gus Dahl won three races on the day, which included both flat races, in which he rode No Wunder and Barnacle Bill, both for trainer Elizabeth Voss.
