The 2023 Maryland Governor’s Cup Series, presented by Farm Credit, is officially underway!

The Foxhall Farm Cup Team Chase provides a fun warm-up for the season. Elkridge-Harford Hunt Club dominated fast time division, with teams taking the top three placings with out of state Blue Ridge Hunt taking 4th. Green Spring Valley Huunds dominated the average/optimal time division, likewise taking the top three placings, leaving 4th to Elkridge. For details on the teams, click here.

Four horses from these top teams are now entered in the first point-to-point of the season, Green Spring Valley at Shawan Downs this Sunday, April 2nd. Kinross Farm’s Blackhall (Ire) ran on the winning fast time Foxhall Team and is entered in Sunday’s Amateur Apprentice Timber Race, along with Armata Stables’ Goodoldtimes (Ire), who ran with the 3rd placed fast time team, and Bogey’s Image, who ran in the 4th placed optimum time team; each will have their Foxhall rider in the irons. Bogey’s Image, who is owned by Harvey Goolsby, Dan Colhoun and Achsah O’Donovan, is also cross-entered in the heavy weight. Rounding out the field of Foxhall horses entered in GSV is William Russell’s Animal Kingston, on the third placed team for fast time and entered in the Novice Timber at Green Spring.

7 junior races with a total of 37 entries will kick off the day, followed by the timbers and concluding with two flats. Click here for overnights. Late entries will be accepted until noon tomorrow.
